I developed a deep passion for the arts from an early age. After working as a college instructor teaching IT, I ventured into the world of graphic design. For eight years, I honed my skills as a graphic designer in Singapore, embracing diverse projects and pushing the boundaries of my creativity.

In 2018, I relocated to Tucson with my partner, embarking on a new chapter in my career as a freelance graphic designer specializing in creating captivating book covers for independent publishing authors. I also find immense joy in teaching young minds and sharing my love for art, nurturing their talents and helping them improve their skills.

Continuation of book covers made by Joy will remain under Joy, while all new bookings will be handled by CoversbyJuan.

Are you using AI for any of your covers?

Absolutely not. Please help us support human artists.

How much does a book cover design cost?

Please refer to https://coversbyjuan.com/commision/ page for pricing details. Although, the cost varies based on factors such as design style, publishing deadline, stock photography availability, book genre, and character creation. The flat fee is calculated according to project complexity.

If I need an urgent cover design, can you help?

yes, we can accommodate tight deadlines in certain cases. An Additional urgency fee of $150 may apply based on your publishing date, budget, and design complexity.

How do I start a project?

Fill out the order form on https://coversbyjuan.com/commision/. Mention inspirational book covers and preferences. We will reply to you 2-3 business days.

Do you provide interior formatting services?

No, interior formatting services are not currently offered.

Can I supply my own images for the cover design?

Absolutely, you can provide high-resolution images, but they must be properly licensed for use.

How many initial cover concepts do you deliver?

Typically, two initial draft designs are provided. Additional concepts include a $100 extra fee.

How long does it take to receive initial designs?

Initial designs are usually ready within a week from the time of your booking. We will contact you beforehand if we need to adjust the deadline.

How many revisions do you provide?

After the draft is provided, one major revision will be allowed. Once approved for color 2-3 minimal revisions are allowed.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Paypal and bank transfers. Transfer fees are not included in the project’s flat fee and very based on the payment method and location.

Do I need to pay a deposit when starting the project?

Yes, there will be a non-refundable 10% deposit before we start the project, which will be deducted from the total price of the cover.

Can I cancel the project, and is there a cancellation fee?

There is no cancellation fee; however, the deposit is non-refundable.

Are stock images included in the project price?

Stock images from Shutterstock.com or depositphotos.com (standard license) are included. Additional fees apply for images from other sources.

What happens after I've approved the cover design?

Pay the remaining balance, and the final files will be sent to you, including the print-ready PDFs or high resolution JPEGs based on your chosen package.

Can I make changes to the cover art after approval?

Text changes are allowed until the final artwork. Changes to the artwork may incur fees of $100 for significant alterations and unused stock images. It is recommended to ensure satisfaction before approval to avoid additional costs.
